Spindrift has supported the South Downs National Park Authority since 2015 with a range of complex and sensitive planning applications through pre-application, submission, pre decision amendments, and condition sign-off. Applications included town centres, areas of archaeological sensitivity, complex flood management, listed buildings and parklands, as well as volume housebuilder applications, whilst supporting a landscape-led approach throughout the park.

The Datchet Design Guide SPD was adopted in 2020 following a complex process of research, consultation and refinement. The document had to achieve multiple different outcomes, including integration with an overarching Borough Design Guide, the need for clear design advice for retail within the historic core, and area characterisation for both allocated housing sites and the large numbers of householder applications received. A complex but interesting process.

Spindrift developed, drafted and consulted on the first edition of SDNPA’s Whole Estate Plan Guidance which was developed following the adoption of their Local Plan. This was a long term project involving extensive research with landowners and specialists within SDNPA and included rolling out a number of pilot projects to test the draft guidance before publication.
