AL AIN MUNICIPALITY BUSINESS PROCESS RESTRUCTURING, ABU DHABI - Jody spent two months working in Al Ain, which is in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on the border with Oman. This project involved working as an Urban Planning Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Mouchel Management Consultancy who were undertaking a review of all functions within the municipal government including urban planning. The project focused on mapping current practises and then working with the client and local staff to identify oppportunities to increase efficiencies and work towards international best practise.
This project required Jody to work within the clients offices, giving her a unique insight into Middle Eastern working practises, the UAE planning system and how to develop good working relationships within a different cultural environment.
In addition to technical work, this project also required an exceptional level of organisation as Jody was brought in at short notice to complete work which had been unsuccessfully completed by a previous consultant. Managing client expectations, ensuring standards were met, and completing within the required timescale was challenging, but ultimately made for a very rewarding experience.

I brought Jody onto the project when there was a real issue with Urban Planning. Not an easy task as there was little to no time and a lot to do, in a country [UAE] where process takes time! Jody took hold of the issue, dragged it through and gave me the deliverables I was after. If I ever need an Urban Planner again, Jody is on my list, though I will try to make the project a little easier next time.
